Hannah A Wise Mother
1 Samuel 1
INTRODUCTION: Wisdom is more profitable than tears on Mother's Day. Hannah was a woman with a particular burden; she was barren. Hannah was an extremely wise woman and mother.

1. SHE MARRIED A MAN WHO LOVED THE LORD. verses 3, 21.

Even though he married two women to bring trouble to the family he was building.
This man served the Lord with regularity and devotion.
A woman can endure almost anything in life if her husband loves the Lord.
It is a wise woman who seeks a husband who loves the Lord.

2. SHE, HERSELF, LOVED THE LORD. verse 7.

Year by year she went up to the house of the Lord to worship.
She did this in spite of her humiliation and sorrow.
She loved the Lord enough to cast her great burden on the Lord and look with faith for an answer.
A wise woman will never allow others in the family to live closer to the Lord than she lives.

3. SHE WANTED CHILDREN. verses 9-11.

She prayed before the Lord for a man child.
She considered her barrenness an affliction and not a blessing as some women do today.
One of the great tragedies of life is for a child to be born into the home unwanted and unloved.

4. SHE GAVE THE CHILD THE ATTENTION HE NEEDED. verses 21-23.

This is a picture of the most tender and devoted attention a mother can give her child.
She did not leave his training to maids or relatives while she left the home to earn money.
It is a wise mother who gives her child a mother's love and care during the formative years of life.

5. SHE BROUGHT THE CHILD TO THE LORD EARLY. verses 24-27.

She brought him to the Lord just as soon as it was practical.
In our world today many mothers are keeping the children away from the House of the Lord too long.
She was not afraid he was too young to understand.
